My path to regenerative design began with water, ruin, destruction, hope, and a deep remembering.
I’m Prisca Weems—an architect, urbanist, and systems strategist with over two decades of experience at the intersection of design, ecology, leadership, and human potential.
My work has taken me across continents and into the heart of communities—restoring storm-damaged cities, advising mayors and developers, designing buildings that breathe, and helping global teams find coherence in chaos. But my journey didn’t start in boardrooms or studios.
It began with ruins—the weathered bones of old buildings in London and New Orleans, where I first practiced architecture. Working with historical structures in old port cities taught me to listen deeply to place, to the stories and intelligence that live in walls and waters. l started FutureProof to help build innovation that honored the genius of bioclimactic design into next generation regenerative development. Then came Hurricane Katrina. FutureProof in the form of a talented, passionate staff and our collaborators helped to rebuild New Orleans and other Gulf Coast communities as resilient cities. I became part of the government team tasked with redesigning a city’s future—one that would learn to live with water, not fight it. That work became a blueprint for climate-resilient cities around the world.
From there, I led initiatives in Europe, India, the Gulf, the UK, and beyond, on islands, in deserts, deltas, swamps, and mountains. I’ve advised governments, launched startups, designed frameworks for resilient infrastructure, and built a global reputation for
translating complexity into coherence.
But underneath all of this is something deeper:
A devotion to healing—people, places, and systems.
What drives me.
I believe that every project—whether a building, a business, or a block—holds a soul. My job is to listen for it, honor it, and help bring it into form. My work is part strategy, part spirit, and fully alive.
I’m fascinated by how environments shape us, and how transforming our environments starts with transforming ourselves. In my built projects I start with deep research into the local knowledge of the indigenous culture and ancestors for wisdom and grounded solutions, let the land tell me what it wants to be, and then to jump forward to the leading edge of technology and innovation for ideas. Then, with community and a hand-picked multi-discplinary team specific to each project, we start to design.
When I speak, consult, or coach, I’m drawing from decades of technical expertise, global experience, and my own path of becoming—through architecture, travel, entrepreneurship, government, coaching, listening, and deep spiritual practice.
